Dr Gemma Newman is a doctor, speaker and author. She has worked in medicine for 20 years and is the Senior Partner at a family medical practice. She has a specialist interest in holistic health, plant based nutrition and lifestyle medicine. Another passion is planetary health, and she has spoken on this topic at a debate at Imperial College, on the ‘Rhitrition’ Podcast and at the Food 2030 Conference at the European Commission in Brussels. She was also one of the experts featured in the documentary film ‘Eating Our Way to Extinction’ narrated by Kate Winslet.

As a presenter she has been featured on ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky News Sunrise as well as BBC Radio with Gaby Roslin and the Chris Evans Virgin Radio Breakfast Show. She has spoken on many podcasts including The Rich Roll Podcast, ‘Feel Better Live More’ by Dr Rangan Chatterjee, The Deliciously Ella Podcast and Mo Gowdat’s ‘Slo-Mo’ Podcast. She hosted five seasons of ‘The Wellness Edit’ podcast with Holland and Barratt which was nominated for Podcast of the Year by the PPA Awards during her tenure. Dr Gemma Newman is a doctor, speaker and author. She has worked in medicine for 20 years and is the Senior Partner at a family medical practice. Another passion of hers includes planetary health, which is inextricably linked to human health, and she has spoken on this topic to other health care professionals at a debate at Imperial College, on the ‘Rhitrition’ Podcast with nutritionist Rhiannon Lambert and at the Food 2030 Conference at the European Commission in Brussels. She was also one of the experts featured in the documentary film ‘Eating Our Way to Extinction narrated by Kate Winslet. Lastly, Dr Newman is also passionate about the study of psychology and meditation, and is also interested in the field of energetic healing. She is a qualified Jikiden Reiki healer and teacher, and has spoken about this on podcasts and in her most recent book.

Dr Gemma Newman is a doctor, speaker and author. She has worked in medicine for 20 years and is the Senior Partner at a family medical practice. She studied at Cardiff University and has worked in many specialities as a doctor including elderly care, endocrinology, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry, general surgery, urology, vascular surgery, rehabilitation medicine and General Practice. She gained additional qualifications in gynaecology and family planning. She is a founding member and ambassador for PBHPUK and a member of BSLM.

Dr Newman has a specialist interest in holistic health, plant based nutrition and lifestyle medicine. In her practice she has come to understand that body, mind and soul are not separate, and that it is only in addressing the root causes of stress and disconnection that we can truly heal, from the inside out. Dr Newman is regularly invited to teach other doctors and the general public via training programmes, podcasts and conferences about the benefits of plant-based nutrition.

Dr Newman has contributed content on the topic of Diabetes for the Winchester University Plant Based Nutrition Course, content on the topic of Mental Health and Nutrition for The Diploma of Culinary Medicine by The Medicinal Chef and she has written a chapter for the first edition of ‘A prescription for Healthy Living, a guide to Lifestyle Medicine’ a textbook for Clinicians published by Elsevier Academic Press and ‘Plant Based Nutrition in Clinical Practice’ by Hammersmith Books. Dr Newman has also written sections for two books on alcohol-free living; Janey Lee Grace’s ‘Happy Healthy Sober’ and Millie Gooch’s ‘The Sober Girl Society Handbook.’
